Winepress for International

Wine E-Commerce

Bring your online wine shop to Finnish customers

Finland's alcohol legislation changed in 2026, opening the door for international online wine shops to sell directly to Finnish consumers for the first time in decades. The market is shifting fast — and the rules, the buying habits, and the media landscape are still new to almost everyone.

“If you already sell online and want to reach Finnish consumers specifically, we localise and launch your offering for this market — language, positioning, and the media relationships that make a new entrant credible to Finnish wine buyers.”

The demand is already there, and it's bigger than most outsiders assume. Foreign online retailers currently account for a small slice of Finland's alcohol market, but Winepress's own analysis points to that online cross border alcohol sales market share could be climbing to roughly 8–12% of the total alcohol market by 2031 — and for wine specifically, as high as 15–20%. If that plays out, it would be the biggest structural shift in Finnish wine retail since Alko's monopoly was established. In other words, this isn't a market you need to create. It's a market that's about to open, and the retailers who move early will define it.

Winepress has been part of Finland's wine scene for years, through our own media, our network of producers and importers, and our understanding of what Finnish consumers respond to. We now offer that expertise directly to international online wine shops that want to enter — or grow in — the Finnish market.

What we do

  • 1. Market entry consulting: understanding the new Finnish law

Winepress helps European wine retailers sell compliantly into Finland. We guide you through the rules, connect you with the right specialists, and coordinate your launch. We are not your excise-tax representative and carry no tax liability.

    Market entry consulting

Finland’s 2026 alcohol reform is rolling out in stages. We translate what it means for your business: distance selling, delivery, age verification and marketing rules, plus support with Finnish tax, customs and licensing authorities.

    Excise-tax representation, coordinated

This role carries real financial liability, so we don’t take it on. We assess your obligations, introduce you to an independent licensed Finnish representative and coordinate the setup.

    Packaging EPR

We handle registration, packaging-volume reporting and coordination with producer responsibility organisations.

    Delivery and logistics

We guide you through delivery requirements and connect you with logistics providers experienced in compliant alcohol delivery.

    Ongoing regulatory monitoring

The reform keeps evolving. We track changes and tell you when something affects you.

Regulated services are contracted directly between you and the relevant licensed provider. Winepress does not act as your excise-tax representative or assume liability for your taxes.

  • 2. Bringing your wines to established online retailers

If you’re a producer, we open doors to online wine retailers already active in the Nordic and Finnish markets. They have the traffic, logistics and regulatory setup in place, so you can reach Finnish consumers without building a route to market from zero. We manage the relationship from first introduction to ongoing sales support, across the retailer’s full international reach.

    Producer scouting and introductions

We find online retailers whose range, price points and audience genuinely match your wines, so introductions lead somewhere.

    Commercial negotiation support

We help you navigate terms, pricing, listing conditions and volume commitments, and explain what’s standard in the Nordic market versus what’s negotiable.

    Ongoing account management

Once you’re listed, we stay on as your point of contact: coordinating day to day, chasing reorders, surfacing promotional and seasonal opportunities, and solving issues as they arise.

    Support beyond Finland

Many of these retailers also sell across other Nordic and EU markets. We help you assess which are worth pursuing and support the conversation as you expand.

    A long-term partner

We check in regularly, track how your wines perform on shelf and help you adjust, whether by expanding your range, addressing slow movers or building on what works.

  • 3. Opening the Finnish market for your existing range

If you already sell online and want to reach Finnish consumers, we localise and launch your offering for this market. Finland is a small, close-knit wine scene with its own buying habits and seasonal rhythms, and succeeding takes more than translating your website. We handle the language, positioning and media relationships that make you credible to Finnish buyers from day one.

    Finnish-language content and localisation

Not just translation: we adapt tone, product descriptions and messaging so they read naturally to Finnish consumers. This covers your website, product listings, newsletters and customer communication.

    Media coverage and storytelling

We connect you with Finnish wine media, influencers and relevant outlets, and shape a story that resonates locally. The right coverage builds more credibility here than paid advertising alone.

    Positioning your range

We help you decide which products to lead with, how to price and frame them, and how to stand out from what’s already on Finnish shelves.

    Understanding the Finnish buyer

We brief you on how Finnish consumers discover and choose wine online: what builds trust, which seasons and occasions matter, and how service and delivery expectations differ from other European markets.

    A coordinated launch

Content, media and positioning land together as one go-to-market push, sequenced to build momentum rather than trickle out piecemeal.

    Ongoing local relevance

A launch is a starting point. We keep your Finnish presence current by refreshing content, revisiting positioning as your range evolves and maintaining your media relationships.
